Job description
As a Behavioral Scientist Practitioner, you work within a residential youth care setting with young people aged 8 to 18 who are dealing with complex behavioral problems, family issues, and trauma-related challenges. You make an active contribution to their treatment, development, and future prospects.
Responsibilities:
- Providing subject-matter expertise in the drafting and evaluation of treatment and support plans
- Conducting individual and group treatments
- Conducting psychodiagnostic research
- Drafting, implementing, and evaluating treatment plans
- Coaching and supporting pedagogical staff and other operational professionals
- Advising managers, employees, parents, and guardians
- Intervene when support trajectories stagnate
- Organizing and facilitating case discussions
- Promoting expertise within the team through training and substantive support
- Contribute to policy development, innovation, and quality improvement
- Identifying gaps in the support services and making suggestions for improvement
Job Requirements:
- Academic working and thinking level in (Ortho)pedagogy, (Developmental) Psychology, or a comparable field of study
- Basic Certificate in Psychodiagnostics or comparable qualification
- Extensive work experience as a psychologist, remedial educationalist, or behavioral scientist
- Experience in residential youth care is a strong advantage.
- Knowledge of trauma, behavioral issues, and systemic work
- Experience with psychodiagnostic assessment and treatment trajectories
- Strong social, communication, and coaching skills
- Experience with reporting, case discussions, and multidisciplinary collaboration
- Alertness to signs of insecurity, mistreatment, and abuse
- Hands-on mentality and solution-oriented work attitude
- Culturally sensitive, flexible and stress-resistant
- Good command of Dutch and Papiamentu
- Proficiency in English and Spanish is a plus.
- Willingness to commit to Bonaire for a longer period of time
